Important Update Regarding NEX-Forms & Envato Licenses

Summary

Due to actions taken by Envato, NEX-Forms is no longer available on the Envato / CodeCanyon marketplace, and Envato-based licenses can no longer be supported. All future development, updates, and licensing for NEX-Forms will now be handled exclusively through our own platform using Freemius.

What Happened

After more than 12 years on the Envato marketplace, NEX-Forms was removed (Sep 2025) from sale by Envato due to a policy decision related to the product title containing the word “Ultimate” — despite this having been the official item name for over a decade.

Approximately two months later (Dec 2025) , Envato fully closed our author account, which immediately and permanently disabled:

  • Access to the Envato licensing API
  • Validation of existing purchase codes
  • Any ability to distribute updates or provide license-related support through Envato

As a result, no business — technical, legal, or operational — can continue through Envato for NEX-Forms.

This decision was made solely by Envato.

About Existing Envato Licenses

It’s important to clarify the following:

  • Envato customers purchased NEX-Forms under Envato’s Terms & Conditions
  • Licensing, activation, and lifetime claims were defined and controlled by Envato
  • Envato has now removed access to those licenses at a platform level

This means:

Envato invalidated the licensing system — not the author.

Unfortunately, once Envato shut down our account and API access, it became technically impossible to continue honoring or validating Envato-issued licenses.

Why a New Licensing System Was Required

To protect users and ensure NEX-Forms remains actively developed and supported, we migrated to a direct licensing model using Freemius, which provides:

  • Stable license validation
  • Reliable updates and security patches
  • Ongoing development and premium feature access
  • Direct customer control over licenses (no third-party dependency)

At the time of writing, nearly 1000 active subscriptions are already running successfully on this system.

This is now the only supported version of NEX-Forms going forward.

About “Lifetime” Licenses

We understand the frustration around lifetime licenses purchased via Envato.

However, those licenses were:

  • Sold, defined, and enforced by Envato
  • Dependent on Envato’s infrastructure and policies
  • Not transferable once Envato disabled the platform access

Because of this, we are not in a position to offer free lifetime access under a completely new system that we now fully operate and maintain independently.

What we can do — and are doing — is offer fair, discounted migration options to long-time Envato customers so they can continue using NEX-Forms without interruption.

What You Need to Do

To continue using NEX-Forms with updates, support, and new features, you will need to switch to the Freemius-powered version.

  • No forms or data are lost
  • Existing installations upgrade seamlessly
  • Licensing is handled directly and transparently

Final Note

This transition was not taken lightly.

After more than a decade on Envato, we were forced to make a decision that prioritizes:

  • Stability
  • Long-term development
  • Fairness to active users
  • Independence from unreliable third-party platforms

How to make the Switch to Freemius:

2. Click on Get Started on your chosen plan.

3. After upgrading you will receive an e-mail containing a license key, a download link and client portal link.

4. Go to your WP backend and open NEX-Forms Dashboard or NEX-Forms Settings.

5. Copy the license you received in the email and past it into the activation box.

6. Hit Activate and you are all set.
